IT support built around the practice management software you actually run

Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, Dentrix Ascend, Denticon, tab32, Dolphin, OrthoTrac, Cloud 9, and more. Whatever runs your schedule, your charts, and your imaging, we size the network and server around it instead of the other way around.

Your PMS is not a detail, it is the system everything else has to work around

Most IT providers treat practice management software as a line item: install it, back up the folder it lives in, move on. That approach works fine right up until a restore fails because the database was open when the backup ran, or a Windows update breaks a driver the imaging vendor never certified, or a specialty practice gets handed a generic dental IT plan built around software they do not even use.

We build the environment around the platform you actually run. That means knowing that Dentrix and Eaglesoft store data differently than Open Dental, that a cloud PMS like Denticon or tab32 shifts the priority from local server backup to bandwidth and session security, and that Dolphin or OrthoTrac in an orthodontic practice have imaging and treatment-planning demands a general dentistry setup was never designed to handle.

Where a generic setup usually breaks first

  • A backup job that reports success for months but cannot restore the database because it copied live files instead of quiescing the PMS engine first
  • Workstations sized for email and browsing, not for a treatment-planning or imaging module that chokes the moment a second operatory opens the same patient
  • A Windows or driver update applied on the vendor's own schedule that breaks imaging integration the vendor had explicitly certified against an older version
  • A specialty practice running specialty software that nobody on the IT side has actually configured before, discovered only when something breaks
  • A PMS migration where the network and workstations were never tested against the new platform until go-live day
  • Cloud PMS logins with no multi-factor authentication, reachable from anywhere by design and protected by nothing beyond a password

By Specialty

Every dental specialty runs different software, and different requirements

General dentistry

Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and Open Dental cover most general practices, usually alongside a separate imaging system that has to stay in sync with the PMS on every workstation.

Orthodontics

Dolphin and OrthoTrac carry treatment-planning and imaging workloads well beyond a general PMS. Workstation specs and network throughput both need to match what the software actually asks of them.

Oral & maxillofacial surgery

Cone-beam imaging and surgical planning software push storage and network demands higher than a typical operatory, and downtime during a scheduled procedure carries its own urgency.

Endodontics

Microscope and imaging integrations layer on top of the core PMS, and a dropped connection mid-procedure is a different order of problem than a slow front-desk screen.

Periodontics

Charting detail and imaging volume run higher than general practice averages, which affects both storage planning and how aggressively backups need to run.

Pediatric dentistry

Higher patient throughput per day means the schedule and front-desk systems have less tolerance for a slow PMS or a flaky wireless connection than a lower-volume practice.

Prosthodontics

CAD/CAM design software and lab-integration workflows add another system that has to stay online and synced alongside the core PMS, often with its own licensing and update schedule.

DSOs & multi-location groups

Denticon, tab32, and Dentrix Enterprise centralize data across locations, which means standardized workstation images, consistent network configuration, and a single support relationship instead of one per office.

What's Included

What PMS-aware IT support actually covers

Application-aware backup

Backup that closes or quiesces the database correctly before copying it, with test restores on a schedule, not a checkmark that says "success" on a file that will not open.

Server & workstation sizing

Hardware specified against your PMS vendor's actual requirements and your patient volume, not a generic small-business build that happens to run the software.

Imaging & integration uptime

The link between your PMS and your imaging, CAD/CAM, or treatment-planning software monitored and maintained as its own priority, not an afterthought to the PMS server.

Vendor-aware patching

Updates staged around what your PMS and imaging vendors have actually certified, with documented exceptions where a vendor requires an older configuration.

Cloud PMS security

MFA enforced on every login, session timeouts configured, and the same scrutiny applied to a cloud PMS that we apply to an on-premise server, because reachable from anywhere cuts both ways.

Migration support

Network and workstation readiness for a PMS switch, coordinated with the vendor handling the actual data conversion, with a rollback plan in case go-live slips.

Questions

Practice management software questions

Do you support Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and Open Dental?

Yes, those three make up most of the general dentistry practices we support, including Dentrix Ascend and Dentrix Enterprise for cloud and multi-location groups. We size servers and workstations to each platform's actual requirements, configure application-aware backup so the database restores cleanly, and coordinate directly with the vendor when something needs their support tier rather than ours.

What about specialty practice management software like Dolphin or OrthoTrac?

We support them. Orthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics, pediatric dentistry, and prosthodontics all run on software with different imaging, treatment-planning, and integration requirements than a general dentistry PMS, and we do not treat a specialty practice like a general practice with a different logo. Dolphin's imaging and management modules, OrthoTrac, and Cloud 9 Ortho are all in scope.

Do you support cloud-based PMS platforms like Denticon or tab32?

Yes. A cloud PMS moves the database off your server, but it does not remove the IT work, it changes what the work is. Bandwidth and failover become the priority instead of local server backup, multi-factor authentication and session policy matter more because the login is reachable from anywhere, and workstation performance still has to hold up during a full day of patients.

Can you help us migrate from one PMS to another?

We handle the infrastructure side of a migration: network and server readiness, workstation imaging for the new software, data migration logistics coordinated with the vendor doing the actual conversion, and a rollback plan in case the go-live date slips. We are not the ones converting your chart data between platforms, that is PMS vendor or conversion-specialist work, but we make sure the environment underneath it does not become the reason a migration goes sideways.

Is our practice management database actually covered by backup?

Only if the backup is application-aware. Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, and most others store live data in a database engine that does not restore cleanly from a plain file copy taken while the database was open. We configure backup that closes or quiesces the database correctly before the copy runs, and we test restores rather than assuming a green checkmark means the data is recoverable.

Our PMS vendor says our IT setup is not supported. Now what?

We treat vendor requirements as requirements, not suggestions. PMS and imaging vendors sometimes require specific operating system versions, .NET or Java runtimes, or configurations that a generic patch policy would otherwise change. We document those exceptions, isolate anything we cannot patch on the standard schedule, and work directly with the vendor's support team rather than relaying messages through your office manager.

Read the PMS security checklist for the access, backup, and integration questions worth reviewing regardless of which platform you run.
