About Us
We started NexGen because the local options had stopped evolving
There is no shortage of IT companies in Michigan. There was a shortage of ones building for how attacks actually work now.
Our Story
Experience should compound, not calcify
Walk into a lot of Michigan offices and you will find the same setup: a server in a closet doing work the cloud does better, antivirus from a decade ago, a backup drive nobody has tested, and a provider who has been billing for it since before the iPhone existed.
None of that is malicious. It is what happens when a provider finds something that works, builds a business on it, and stops asking whether it still works. Meanwhile the attacks moved on. Today the typical incident does not involve a virus at all. Someone gets a convincing email, hands over a password, and walks in the front door with valid credentials.
NexGen was built for that reality. Identity first. Detection on every endpoint. Backups that get tested and produce evidence. Email authentication actually enforced instead of set to monitor and forgotten.
What we will not do
- Put you behind a ticket queue and call it a process
- Sell you hardware you do not need because the margin is good
- Recommend an on-prem server when the cloud version is cheaper and safer
- Answer a compliance question with “ask your compliance person”
- Lock you into a multi-year auto-renewing agreement
- Take on work below five seats or residential jobs that would pull attention off client work
Who we serve, in order
Medical and dental practices of every type come first, because the combination of HIPAA obligations and zero tolerance for downtime during a patient schedule is exactly the problem we are built for. Tax and accounting firms are next, where IRS Publication 4557 and the FTC Safeguards Rule create real requirements most providers hand-wave. Then law firms, where confidentiality is an ethical duty under ABA Model Rules 1.1 and 1.6, not just good practice. And then any Michigan business with five or more employees that has outgrown hoping for the best.
Andrew Klasen
Andrew came up as a hands-on technician and engineer, which is why the phone still goes to someone who can actually fix things. He built NexGen around the standard he wanted as a customer: explain the problem in plain English, fix the cause, document it, and do not pad the invoice.

How We Operate
Five commitments, in writing
You reach a person who can fix it
First contact is a technician with real access, not a dispatcher taking a message.
We fix causes, not symptoms
If the same issue appears twice, we treat the second one as our failure and go find the root.
Plain English, always
You will never be handed jargon as a substitute for an explanation, or as a reason to just trust us.
No surprise invoices
Flat monthly rate. Projects quoted in advance. If we misjudge scope, that is our problem.
Security is not an upsell
MFA, EDR, and tested backups are in every plan. Those are not premium features, they are the floor.
We will tell you no
If a project is a bad idea or we are the wrong fit, you hear it early, not after the deposit.
Curious whether we are actually a fit?
Fifteen minutes on the phone will settle it. Worst case you get a second opinion for free.
No pressure, no obligation. If we are not the right fit we will tell you and point you somewhere better.
