IT support built around your orthodontics practice
Dolphin, OrthoTrac, and Cloud 9 Ortho carry treatment-planning and imaging workloads well beyond a general dentistry PMS. We size the network, server, and workstations around what your software actually asks of them, not a generic small-practice build.
Orthodontics is not general dentistry with different software
Most IT providers size an orthodontic practice's network the same way they would a general dentistry office, then wonder why treatment-planning software chokes the moment two chairs pull up imaging at once. Dolphin, OrthoTrac, and Cloud 9 Ortho are not lightweight add-ons to a PMS. They are imaging and treatment-planning platforms with their own storage, bandwidth, and workstation demands.
We build the environment around the platform you run, not the other way around. That means workstations specified against what Dolphin's imaging modules or OrthoTrac's treatment-planning tools actually require, application-aware backup that quiesces the database correctly instead of copying live files, and network throughput sized for multiple operatories pulling large imaging files at the same time.
Where a generic setup usually breaks first
- Workstations sized for email and scheduling, not for Dolphin or Cloud 9 imaging modules that stall the moment a second operatory opens the same case
- A backup job that reports success for months but cannot restore because it copied live database files instead of quiescing OrthoTrac first
- Network throughput that holds up fine for a general practice but bottlenecks when imaging files move between operatories and the treatment-planning workstation
- A Windows or driver update applied on the vendor's schedule that breaks an imaging integration Dolphin or OrthoTrac had explicitly certified against an older version
- Cloud-hosted Cloud 9 Ortho logins with no multi-factor authentication, reachable from anywhere and protected by nothing beyond a password

Orthodontics IT questions
Do you support Dolphin, OrthoTrac, and Cloud 9 Ortho?
Yes. All three are in scope for server sizing, workstation specification, application-aware backup, and vendor-aware patching. We treat orthodontic imaging and treatment-planning software as the priority it is, not an add-on to a general dentistry setup.
Our treatment-planning workstation slows down whenever another chair pulls imaging. Is that fixable?
Usually, yes. That symptom is almost always network throughput or workstation specification falling short of what the imaging software actually needs under real multi-chair load, not a problem with the software itself. We size both around your actual patient volume and operatory count.
Is our Dolphin or OrthoTrac database actually covered by backup?
Only if the backup is application-aware. These platforms store live data in a database engine that does not restore cleanly from a plain file copy taken while the software was open. We configure backup that closes or quiesces the database correctly before the copy runs, and we test restores rather than assuming a green checkmark means the data is recoverable.
We're moving from a general PMS to a dedicated orthodontic platform. Can you help?
We handle the infrastructure side: network and server readiness, workstation imaging for the new software, data migration logistics coordinated with the vendor doing the actual conversion, and a rollback plan in case the go-live date slips.
Read the PMS security checklist for the access, backup, and integration questions worth reviewing regardless of which platform you run.
Tell us what you run. We'll tell you what it needs.
A 15-minute call covers your current PMS, imaging setup, and location count, and what a properly sized environment around it actually looks like.
No pressure, no obligation. If we are not the right fit we will tell you and point you somewhere better.
